The Chief of VA Community Care is a Clinical Service Chief who participates in assessing the environment, forecasting trends, transmitting ideas and values and developing and implementing policies. The primary purpose of the Chief, VA Community Care position is to execute leadership that is characterized by substantial and continuous responsibility and accountability for population groups or integrated programs that cross service and/or discipline lines, influence organizational mission and health care. The Chief of VA Community Care is responsible for administrative and clinical functions of the assigned program. He/She is responsible for:
Fiscal and resource management, program development, customer service and patient satisfaction. Manages and develops collaborative partnerships with clinicians and administrative counterparts. Responsible for hiring decisions, employee relations, standards of care/practice and the work environment for areas of direct responsibility. Participates in VISN and Medical Center committees. Responsible for strategic planning and performance measures. Provides executive leadership and direct supervision for the VA Community Care managers. Other duties as required/assigned. The Chief of VA Community Care reports directly to the Chief of Staff and works independently accomplishing a number of administrative functions and supports the organization through joint planning. The Chief of VA Community Care is responsible for all administrative and clinical components of VA Community Care. Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant:
The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6) OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia. Experience:
MSN Required A minimum f five (5) years of successful nursing clinical practice, with at least one (1) year of recent nursing management Nurse Executive (NE-BC) certification highly preferred. Demonstrated skills in effectively managing human resources in previous assignments. Demonstrated skills in effectively collaborating with and directing multidisciplinary teams in previous assignments. Demonstrated skills in managing complex systems, with advanced organizational skills. Advanced skills in oral and written communications. Knowledge and understanding of Veterans Health Administration (VHA) regulations/policies/procedures, current Joint Commission standards, and other current internal and external accrediting body standards. Grade Determinations:
The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade Nurse IV - Master's degree in nursing or related field with BSN and approximately 4-5 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree in nursing or related field and appropriate basic or advanced certification desired, and approximately 3-4 years of nursing practice/experience. All applicants must be physically able to satisfactorily perform the duties of the position. A pre-placement physical examination shall be completed prior to appointment.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
