Responsibilities:
MDRO/Infection Prevention and Control Practice Epidemiology Surveillance Provides expertise regarding infection, communicable disease, epidemiological procedures and isolation techniques to all personnel involved in patient care in order to minimize risk. Promotes the incorporation of infection control principles into patient care practices through such mechanisms as writing nursing orders, attending team conferences and teaching patients, families and personnel. Serves as an educational resource for all employees on infection prevention and control and epidemiology, providing expert knowledge and guidance. Provides informal discussion and teaching with personnel during surveillance rounds and participates in patient care conferences and patient and/or family teaching. Assists all services to integrate applicable infection control principles into their ongoing educational programs including orientation of new employees. Routinely assesses the education needs of customers and develops educational objectives and strategies to meet those needs. Conducts educational classes for employees regarding infection control and environmental hazards related to infection control. Continuously evaluates the effectiveness of educational programs and learner outcomes. Conducts multidisciplinary rounds to assess adherence to infection control practices as outlined in the Medical Center Infection Control Manual and recommends/coordinates appropriate corrective action when adherence is inadequate. Evaluates methods of disinfection and sterilization in all clinical and related services; establishes guidelines for the decontamination of equipment and supplies used in patient care. Establishes written policies and procedures which include systematic review and evaluation of aseptic, isolation and sanitation practices in use throughout the Medical Center. Participates in establishing criteria for quality improvement in order to evaluate the effectiveness of infection control activities on a continuous basis. Collaborates in the integration of pertinent regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, guidelines, and current infection control practice into policies and procedures. Serves as a liaison to Public Health officials regarding communicable diseases and other epidemiological significant findings. Treats customers in a courteous and helpful manner that indicates dignity and respect. Responds in an accurate and timely manner to customer requests. Interacts with visitors/staff in a courteous, thoughtful, and caring manner using tact, discretion and patience when explaining policies and procedures or assisting in finding an answer to a problem. Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant:
The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6) OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. Current, full, active, and unrestricted license as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia. Preferred
Experience:
1-3 years of Acute Care and/or Infection Prevention experience. BSN preferred. Grade Determinations:
The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade:
Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse III - Master's degree in nursing or related field with BSN and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience. In addition to the requirements above, the Nurse I demonstrates individual growth and development in clinical practice to increasing levels of self direction; Nurse II demonstrates unit level contributions and leadership; Nurse III demonstrates sustained leadership resulting in program contributions and outcomes at the unit level and beyond. All applicants must be physically able to satisfactorily perform the duties of the position. A pre-placement physical examination shall be completed prior to appointment.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
